2020 General Election Information

The general election is November 3, 2020. You can register to vote for it until October 25, 2020.If you requested a general election ballot when you requested a primary ballot, you should receive the general election ballot in early October when it is printed. You do not need to take any other action to receive your ballot. You can track your application process through the Secretary of State here:  https://bourls.com/FP6zX  If you requested a general election ballot, it should indicate under status that the request is “pending”. If it does not, you should check with the Boston Elections (617-635-8683) or Cambridge Elections (617-349-4000) on whether you need to submit another application. If you have not received your application yet, you can download the form from the Secretary of State’s elections webpage and hopefully soon you will be able to apply directly through the website, as the new law requires. My office (617-722-2013) can help you secure an application too. Other election deadlines include:

  • October 17, 2020 to October 30, 2020 - early in person voting
  • October 28, 2020 - last day to request early voting ballot
  • November 3, 2020 noon - last day to request an absentee ballot
  • November 3, 2020 - deadline for mailing a ballot, postmark must reflect this day or earlier (this is different from the primary)
