Letter to Gov. Baker for SNAP Gap Infrastructure Spending Request

On August 7, 2020 Governor Baker approved Chapter 151 of the Acts of 2020, An Act financing the general governmental infrastructure of the Commonwealth. It included an allocation of $5 million for the capital costs associated with developing a system that allows health care consumers to apply for SNAP benefits when seeking MassHealth or the Medicare Savings program benefits. This week Representative Livingstone and Senator DiDomenico wrote a letter to Governor Baker urging him to utilize these funds as soon as possible in order to reach all people in the commonwealth who need food assistance during this time. More than 85 of their colleagues in the House and Senate signed on in support.
